This financial year mining tax revenue has come in an incredible 95 percent below the Treasurer’s original $4 billion revenue forecast which he issued just before the last election.

In question time today the Treasurer was asked when gross debt – subject to the debt cap – would peak.Wayne Swan couldn’t answer, instead quoting the market value rather than the face value of gross debt. The debt cap is assessed based on the face value of securities on issue subject to the limit under the Commonwealth Inscribed Stock Act 1911.

The Gillard Government has finally admitted its implementation of the National Business Names Register has been a failure, after it was forced in the budget to throw $7.8 million at a problem it created, according to the Shadow Minister for Small Business Bruce Billson.
Mr Billson said the Government had already thrown $125.2 million at the National Business Names Register in the 2010-11 budget but because of its poor implementation of the scheme and hundreds of complaints more was now needed.

The Government’s carbon chaos continues.
They got their figures completely wrong last year and they have done it again this year.
Last year the government overstated their revenue by six times the current forward price for 2015/16 when they imagined the price would be $29 for carbon permits in that year.
Now they have had to write down over $5 bn of phantom revenue for 2015/16 alone. As a consequence they have broken their promise, and axed their legislated tax cuts.

Labor’s boat budget blowout has now eclipsed $10 billion since they came to office and abolished the successful border protection measures of the Howard Government, Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Scott Morrison said today.
“Labor’s budget boat blowout[1] is a whopping $4.1 billion since February and $5.3 billion since last year’s budget, taking to over $10 billion the total blow out on their failed border protection policies since they came to office,” Mr Morrison said.

The Gillard Labor Government will spend more than $5 million advertising its Schoolkids bonus this financial year – a payment that goes directly into the bank accounts of eligible recipients.
As reported in The Australian today, answers to questions from Senate Estimates also reveal that Labor tested the advertising campaign on 36 focus groups and spent $300,000 on research to develop the campaign.

THE Gillard government will spend more than $5 million this financial year on paid advertising for the Schoolkids Bonus scheme, according to new figures provided to the Senate.According to the breakdown of the advertising buy booked by Universal McCann, most of the money is going to digital advertising, with TV the second-biggest spend item. Answers to the Senate also reveal the Schoolkids Bonus campaign creative concepts were tested on 36 focus groups.
